Choreography

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman was a contemporary piece performed by Miss Kristin’s Dance Studio teen level dancers (ages 13-17) at their 2024 annual year-end recital in Cleveland, OH.

Caged Bird

Caged Bird, was Amanda’s first choreography set on students ages 9-18 from Charlotte Braun Dance Studio in Cleveland, OH. Voiceover by KeShawn Mellon. This piece introduced modern or contemporary dance to the group of students and was premiered at their 2022 recital, Step Into the Story as a tribute to Maya Angelou’s poem Caged Bird.

Augmentation

Augmentation deriving from self-reflection, explores the evolution of identity across the three performers. Each of the three dancers adopt and outgrow different articles of clothing symbolizing the constant changing of an individual’s sense of self. This site-responsive trio, choreographed by Amanda Grega, takes on varying dynamics exploring how new understandings, ways of thinking, and changing perspectives evolve.

Augmentation premiered at the Spring Senior Portfolio Works Walk-Through Concert as part of the Ohio University School of Dance in April of 2021.

Manipulated Hysteria

Amanda Grega’s Manipulated Hysteria, a self-made and performed film solo, explores gender inequality. With recorded sound of women’s experiences, Grega’s hesitation, body and intrinsic fight energy is accompanied by a wall deteriorated by struggle and language that stands with steadfast endurance.

Manipulated Hysteria premiered as part of the Fall 2020 Senior Dance Projects Drive-In Dance Viewing in November of 2020. Amanda was invited to discuss and present this work as part of Ohio University’s MLK Jr. Celebration in 2021 to commemorate arts activism. The work was later selected to be presented as part of the Cleveland Dance Fest dance film category in fall of 2021.

hankering commonality

hankering commonality, created and performed by Amanda Grega explores the need for normalcy during a time of drastic change. This video performance captures how one lives or views their life through a window during uncertain times of chaos. As Grega comes in contact with and interacts with a window she tries to find a place to fit and yield into it just as one yields into change. The rebounding nature of Grega’s movement quality calls on the fighting of changes and how giving into change is not always easy.

This work was presented as part of the Ohio University’s School of Dance Junior Dance (Virtual) Showing in May of 2020. The playlist of pieces was featured on Dance Magazines website.

forward, onward, and to The Backward

forward, onward, and to The Backward was one of Amanda’s first self-choreographed modern dance solos that premiered at The Movement Organizations fall concert in 2019. The piece analyzes memories and how we move on, hold on and remember moments of our lives that have faded away.
